FaithGirlz! Bible (NIV)

By Wanda

Help start your favorite girl on her own faith journey. According to contributor Nancy Rue, she hopes the Faithgirlz Bible will help girls grow a friendship with the Bible. FaithGirlz Bible

What I liked about the  revised edition of FaithGirlz Bible

Frilly Design: It’s pretty pink flower cover definitely captured my attention as I am sure it will for any  girly girl.  And the color doesn’t stop at the cover but is continue throughout the Bible with pink and purple text written on white pages.

Feature Packed: Each chapter openings with a brief introduction which tells readers who wrote the book, where it took place, characters they will meet, bad characters to watch out for, the main point and how it connects. In addition chapters also feature:

  • Dream Girl – allows girls to put themselves inside the Bible story
  • Oh I Get It – feature answers to Bible questions girls may have wondered about
  • Bring it Own – short quizzes
  • Treasure this – Scripture passages to hide in their hearts
  • Is there a little_____ (Moses, Deborah, etc.) in you? – helps girls discover what they have in common with people in the Bible.
  • In Your Own Words – opportunity for girls to recap the Bible story.

While I do think the NIV version of this Bible used a language that is easy to understand by today’s girls, I was not fond of the idea that the updated version of NIV has chosen to remove the word “man” when speaking generically of a person whether male or female. For example, Mark 8:36 becomes what does it profit someone to gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul. Instead of what does it profit a man to gain the whole world.

Who is this Bible Gear to:

This Bible is targeted for girls ages 9 – 12.
