It’s Friday and it’s when I like to share a little blog love to acknowledge a few of the many great reads I come across as I transverse the blogosphere. So many are sharing of themselves. Sharing their wisdom, pushing back the darkness and shining the light of Jesus, educating, making us laugh and I am grateful to be a part of this community.
Here’s a few of my favorite reads from this week:
Wants: Lost in the “I Want” at Rhapsody Phoenix >>> so many times we seek some thing or some one externally to fix us, love us, or save us but Rhapsody shows us the first place to start.
It’s All About Jesus by Vanessa at Hearts on Guard >>>This one is about allegorizing the old testament-making the Bible all about you. It stepped on my toes a bit. I’m guilty as charged.
It’s as if we’re sticking our face in a cardboard cut out, snapping a picture, swapping their face for our own. We are not Esther. We are not David.
When we insert ourselves, twist the history to apply to our life, we squeeze Jesus out of the picture and insist these verses instead point to ourselves and our lives instead of Him and His life and death. –Vanessa of Hearts on Guard
Run Anyway! by Guest Blogger Shundria Riddick at Going Beyond Ministries >>> a really inspiring read that talks about how often things don’t turn out quite how we expect but God still has a lesson to teach us. Don’t get loss in comparing ourselves to others. Regardless who is farther along run anyway!
5 Lies That Prevent You From Chasing Your Dream by Alison Versterfelt >>> I think I’ve succumbed to all five of these little lies but I especially liked what she had to say about the insatiable desire for more affirmation whether that be from God or others. At some point a girl has to trust and get busy making faith tracks.
The Thought Train at Sword of Goliath >>> A reminder that we need more than just clever sayings this year. She highlights the importance of our thoughts. Here is a snippet of what she said.
Thoughts are between a person and God, and the thought train can often take us on a wild ride. We can end up in places and situations that we never even considered merely by following what begins as one little thought. –LaVonne of Sword of Goliath
