Are you are truth reader? Over the last couple of weeks, I have the opportunity to read familiar truths in a new way. Well, I probably shouldn’t say in a new way but in a new Bible. As a reader, I love cracking open a new book. And unlike a typical book that I may read once, God’s Word-the Bible is a book I aim to read consistently. Granted I often miss the mark.
But there is no better book to dive into than the Bible. In fact, according to statistics, the Bible is the world’s best-selling book.
Thanks to B&H Publishing Group, I have been reading through Philippians in the She Reads Truth Bible. The Christian Standard Bible is a version that I haven’t read previously as I typically read the New Living Translation or ESV Bible in my study time.
Since the time I first came across, the She Reads Truth website several years ago, I have appreciated their mission of getting women in the Word every day. And they have continued with this mission in their release of the She Reads Truth Bible. In the opening covers, they express it by saying,
“Our heart for the She Reads Truth Bible is not to add to or improve on the perfect and complete gift of Scripture God has given us. Rather, our heart is for everything we’ve included in this Bible to point back to God and His Word.”
Is that not the mission of every Bible? To reveal to us more of our God. My bookshelves are lined with several different Bibles. Each offering something a bit different but the main offering of any Bible is God’s Word. Because I don’t feel qualified to judge the theological accuracy of the CSB translation of the Bible, my focus is on the extras that make the She Reads truth Bible unique.
Things I Liked About the She Reads Truth Bible
I like that this Bible contains the following:
- A How to Read the Bible section– this is such a great feature for women who are new to Christ or studying the Bible on their own for the first time.
- Explanation of the Gospel – so often in Christian circles, we can use terminology that newbies don’t fully understand. I like how they put this up front helping readers understand the basics.
- Beautiful Hand-Lettered Key Verses – while not an essential feature it does make the Bible aesthetically pleasing which many women will appreciate.
- Color-Coded Genre/Literary Style Indicator – this a unique feature I haven’t seen in a Bible before. Each book of the Bible is color-coded to indicate its literary style. They give the reader a framework for approaching each style. I do wish they would have included the guide at the front of the Bible.
The inclusion of devotionals, suggested reading schedule with scriptures for going deeper were also a great find in the She Reads Truth Bible.
Less than Ideal Aspects of the She Reads Truth Bible
When I received my Bible, I liked how it was packaged in a cardboard-like sleeve that would be great to have it on a bookshelf. However, when opening the Bible I noticed that the front pages were partially glued down, where I couldn’t easily access the page where you write your name. I’m sure this is not typical for each of the Bibles.
Also, my Bible cover was already crumpled or creased upon arrival as well as some of the beginning pages. Additionally, I have some concerned about pages 1-32 coming out over time as the bottom portion of that section doesn’t seem to be secured as well.
Additionally, the pages are very thin, which will lend itself to easily being torn and I would imagine it wouldn’t handle ink very well. Although I have yet to do any writing in this Bible. Because of the size of this Bible, I would use it for home study and not a church/carry around Bible.
While the Bible could use some improvements, I’m still very pleased with it and I look forward to using it during my study time in the coming year. I would recommend this Bible for both the new and seasoned Christian Women.

Pam, I wasn’t familiar with the CSB version either but it is very easy to understand. Looking forward to using it more in the coming months.
