Is Self Assurance What You Seek?

By Wanda

God hasn’t called us to a life of self-assurance.
But He has called us to God-assurance.

God Assurance vs. Self Assurance

God AssuranceSeeking to be assured of your abilities to get things done or make things happen only leads us to frustration and pain. Or we can find ourselves on that slippery slope of pride. Relying on God puts the emphasis off of us and back onto Him.

God assurance does not negate our personal responsibilities but rather positions us to have the necessary tools and abilities to get the job done.

God assurance enables us to launch our doing from a unique position of rest instead of anxiety and restlessness. Don’t allow the thief of restlessness cause you to move out of your proper position. Positioning is about preparation colliding with expectation. A lack of either of  the two will cause you to be in the wrong place. Positioning is saying I don’t see it or have it yet but because I’m in expectation of it I am doing what it takes to have everything in the proper order.

Check Your Position

To be positioned to move, you must be rid of unnecessary baggage and weight. Watch your positioning!

What is the positioning of your heart?

What is the positioning of your spirit?

What is the positioning of your spiritual stance?

Is your positioning off? Are there areas that need to be realigned?

As I think about positioning, I am reminded of individuals who knew how to get in the appropriate place.

  • The lady with the issue of blood had to position herself mentally before she ever got in the right position physically to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.

for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” Matthew 9:21 (ESV)

  • Zacchaeus didn’t allow the crowds to hinder his ability to see Jesus. He devised a strategy to get himself in a good place to see Jesus. (see Luke 19:1-10)

Check your mental position. It is key to your spiritual alignment.

Wanda, this was the line that jumped off the page for me:

“Don’t allow the thief of restlessness cause you to move out of your proper position.”

That was really profound. Yes, a restless spirit tends to be tossed by those waves of stormy weather. Caught adrift in indecision or doubt, we soon lose our way. I don’t want to be off-course in my life. So, Lord, steer me into position, re-align my compass, guide me to *just the right place*!!

    GOD BLESS!

As soon as you mentioned the thief of restlessness Wanda, it’s friend’s impatience and disobedience came to mind. Those are two thieves that have led me, at times, to lose my positioning and timing. You are so right, our mental positioning is key to our spiritual alignment. That is a continual work in progress with me, and my goodness ….it sure is a continual battle!

    God Bless you more xx

Carole, I hadn’t thought about that way but you’re right those twins tend to accompany restlessness. I have been battling it is well. It seems that I have the seasons where restlessness tend to be worse than others. I pray that we each will keep our eyes focused on the One who directs our lives. Blessings to you sweet friend. Wish you a peaceful and productive rest of the week.

The thief of restlessness… How apropos! I’ve let him steal a thing or two from me over the years.

This is so good Wanda, and resonates very well with me! I know I often seek to satisfy the longings of my soul, but only when I come to God in prayer and complete trust in His wisdom and perfect timing, do I find such satisfaction. 🙂

Blessings and love; wishing you joy during the rest of your week! 🙂

When we take that anxious feelings to God, He can pput us back to a place of confident assurance and peace that He indeed has a plan for our lives. Even when we can’t see the pieces of the plan working together. Grace and peace to you!

I am SO glad I came by to check out your blog (you visited me yesterday). I love this post. Love it. It is exactly what I need to hear right now. This is so good: “God assurance enables us to launch our doing from a unique position of rest instead of anxiety and restlessness. Don’t allow the thief of restlessness cause you to move out of your proper position.” Thanks for sharing this that was on your heart.

Lord, Ms. Wanda; what are you trying to do to me with these words? You’re gonna drive me to drink today…coffee, that is! lol! I feel like I think my car does when I take it to the shop for a tune-up. I’m tuned in to these words and making my alignment. It’s painful, but I’m making it. Jesus, keep me near the cross, so I don’t get stuck on the mountain of self.

Great topic and so well written – we are supposed to die to SELF. Knowing who we are in Christ and His love is what sets us free! THANKS

    I’m so tired.
    Tired of being ignored.
Tired of being told I’m doing this wrong, that wrong, praying wrong, holding my mouth wrong, saying the wrong words.
    Tired of being alone.
Tired of slogging on my own.
    Tired of everything.
I don’t want to be here anymore. I’m done.

Oh Elizabeth. You are singing the song I find myself singing from time to time. May God infuse you with the strength to maintain your position until He resolves the matter or gives you new instruction. Praying for you.

Elizabeth – when we are “done” that can be the best time because when we lift our hands (surrender/praise) then HE can carry up and take our backpack full ob boulders… now if I can just remember this the next time before I get too far DOWN – that I can surrender to my Jesus any time and He will lift me and take those boulders… hard to do sometimes when we are in the middle of it!
