Every man’s destiny, every woman’s dream
Tony Evans urges men to get off the sidelines of life and get back into their rightful position in the game of life. His use of football analogy will be welcomed for the man who loves sports. In his three-part book, Evans hopes to help men raise the standard and define manhood according to God’s design.
Having read one of Tony’s previous books, The Kingdom Agenda, I was quite interested in reading Kingdom Man. Although I’m not a man, I found the book insightful. The author not only identified the problems that result from the absence of properly positioned men but he outlined ways to identify what authentic manhood looks like. His passion for discipleship and mentorship are evident throughout the book.
Using Psalm 128, Tony shows how King David outlines the components of a kingdom man’s life-personal, family, church, and community. For each area of a man’s life, he provides practical ways to live according to the standards of the kingdom of God.

Thanks for your visit and comment. Men and women are selfish by nature and won’t change, no matter how hard they try, until God changes their hearts through the Gospel, namely Christ – the only way.

Sounds like a great book! So many things would be different if men would step up and be men – and if women would let them.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Great point Christine. What are some of the ways you think women hinder men from stepping up?
LaVonne says
I’ve never read Tony Evans, so this will be a first for me. Sports is always an interesting drawing point, for we are all really in this race called life. The sad thing that the enemy never tells us about the sidelines is that there is as much chance of danger on the sideline, and we can keep getting hurt on the sideline without ever advancing. The sideline may feel like the game, but it’s not the game. We’ve even heard horrow stories about people who died trying to catch a ball from the sidelines. The only way to advance and fully participate is to get in the game. Yes, the game may involve some heavy hits, but with preparation, training and the right gear, we can overcome those hits and reach the finish line in victory.

For a none sporting girl like myself, even I could keep up with most of the analogies he used throughout the book. The danger of the sidelines sounds like a great post title for you to expound upon the truths you just shared LaVonne. To some the sidelines would seem like a safe place to reside. You have my thoughts a churning once again.

I love listening to Dr. Tony Evans he really talks about men being and men and I said I really want to get this book and read it for myself. I have been searching the bible for biblical truths on what a man of God is and I believe that this book will be helpful. Because of society and up bringing my beliefs in what a man was and what a man was supposed to do is no where near what God says a man should be. I am really troubled with how men and women really have changed the divine purpose of each other roles to please themselves and I fell into doing the same things. Since studying the bible I now have insight on what my role is and I understand that it is not right for me to take on the roles that the man was designed to do.
Wanda says
Hi Kay, I too have had to reexamine my own beliefs about male/female roles. Like you, I have discovered that my view had been incorrectly colored in many ways by my own life experiences and societal norms. I continue to ask God to give me a transformed mind in this area because I want to have true success in my relationships.

If you liked “Kingdom Man,” you will also love “Kingdom Woman,” a brand new book by Dr. Tony Evans and his daughter, Chrystal Evans Hurst. It’s great for every woman. It was their desire in writing it to “challenge women to look higher than where you are to whose you are, and to be transformed by the truth of being a Kingdom Woman.” The book encourages women to set their eyes on Christ and to pursue what God has created them to be. It is true to that goal. I am thoroughly enjoying it and hope you will, too. I think it is in line with what you are saying. They have also posted some free devotional downloads that are great on their website: kingdomwomanbook.com. Hope it blesses you as it has me.
