Refreshing Guidance

By Wanda

he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake. Psalms 23:3 (NIV)

Throughout our lives there are seasons that are taxing to our souls,  minds, will, and emotions. God knew we would have those moments and in his infinite wisdom and abounding love, He made provisions for us. He refreshes our souls.

Refreshing Guidance

When my mind is foggy, I don’t like traveling in unknown territory. It’s then that I long to be in comfortable places. Places I can easily navigate without requiring much of my attention or focus. When my emotions are out whack it’s amazing how much I can do just on autopilot. But that’s not the place God desires for us to operate from. To be guided by the shepherd requires our attention and obedience.

Are you operating on autopilot or are you attuned to the voice of the shepherd?

As I have often mentioned here, I’m directionally challenged so when traveling I don’t leave home without my GPS. But when I’m in an area I know, I don’t really listen closely to its instructions and often choose a different path from what it’s telling me. Other times I find myself on a road so long that I’m engrossed in the scenery or my own thoughts that I don’t hear the instructions and miss a turn. In much the same way, we can miss the father’s guidance. His directions are always right although they may not look that way to us.

Good thoughts; too many times I find myself in auto pilot and have to stop and listen to what He would have me do. Much like my GPS (like you, I am directionally challenged!) I can sure miss the right direction!

    Blessings for your day Wanda!

Oh happy to see I found another directionally challenged one like me :). May we each have ears attentively focus on hearing the voice of the maters.

So true Wanda. I tend to not pay close attention like I should at times also. However, I’m learning even in my comfort zones that it’s best to listen closely to His voice.

Now that’s a very good point Bernadine. There are times in our spiritual lives that we can assume we know the way and fail to hear the master’s voice. Hope you have a great weekend!
