Welcome to another edition of The Friday Five. Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and snagged some great deals, if you went Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping. I was off all last week and enjoyed the extra time for R&R and fellowship time with family. As you know Friday is when I like to show a little blog love to some good reads I have discovered during the week. This week’s blog love goes to:
Words Have Power, But God’s Word Has More Power by Danielle at Real Life Real God
Reading her words take me back to those moments of the little school yard saying of sticks and stone may break my bones but words can never hurt me. We are all old enough now to know better. Words have a way of being etched into our souls for a lifetime.
When Others Have Forsaken You by Marilyn at Single and Content
She shares about an aha moment she had when reading a passage of scripture. In looking at her past she sees how the enemy had intended to use all the moments of being forsaken my people in her life to leave her in a broken down state.
Flood Not Fear by Jennifer at You Are My Girls
A rally cry to this heart of mine not to get stuck in the fear and a reminder that it’s only through allowing God to flood my abode that I can truly walk free. I love these words she wrote,
We have to push forward into who He says we are, or we will never hear His voice in us sing. We have to push forward, through fear, through doubt, through whispers that tell us we don’t have what it takes . . . to claim the truth of who we are. –Jennifer
What I Want My Kids to Know About…Failure by Kendra at The Ruth Experience
As one who has often said no more times out of the fear of failure than embracing the lessons learned during the attempts, I can really appreciate Kendra’s quest to teach her children the value that can be found in our failures.
The Killers of Creativity by Amy at Blogs by Christian Women
In the past I have talked about 4 Creativity Snatchers and Making Room for Creativity so it’s no wonder that I was drawn to Amy’s post describing 4 C Killers that can leave our creativity

Thank you for the weekly Fives, Wanda. They have been a blessing to me. And I love the new look of THE WATERED SOUL!
Wanda says
It’s my pleasure to share these goodies. And thanks for the compliment. I’m liking the simplified look as well. Every now and thing it’s nice to strip things down to bare minimum. I now need to carry that into some other areas.

My reading has stalled. Right now as i type this up i am looking at 4 of T.D jakes books (Re-position yourself, the ten commandments of working in a hostile environment, let it go, life overflowing) I am yet to read, they have already sat in my house for 3 weeks, they have to be returned to the library by December 21. *Sigh, i go through these slums, I have started “Before you say I do” another TDJakes book but i have passed the introduction. I don’t know that I would reach my 120 book reading goal this year, its still early still, we’ll see, Thus far I’ve read 102. i got to shake myself.
Well enough about me, how you doing? How is life shaping up for you? I trust this year has been fill with a lot more satisfaction than dissatisfaction and the lessons learnt has been added to your landscape of knowledges.
have a blessed day.
peace.

Rhapsody, I would call reading 102 books a slump my dear but I do understand wanting to reach a goal you have set for yourself. My reading tends have it’s ebbs and flows as well. It’s something about nearing the end of the year that has one looking back and reflecting and I must say life threw out some unexpected by one thing I still sure of is the Rock still stands! Yes mam I have learned some lessons indeed.

Hi Wanda! I went over and read Kendra’s post on Failure. I loved her sane approach to not being perfect all the time. (It’s exhausting anyway.)
I hope you enjoyed your time with family and ‘me time’. We all need that, especially during the holiday season.
Have a wonderful day,
Ceil
Wanda says
Glad you were able to read Kendra’s post Ceil. It’s a good lesson for all us to know. Have a great weekend.
Alison Hector says
Hey there Wanda! I loved Marilyn’s post. She has a gift with words and painting images with them. I sure can relate to being a woman with the issue of blood. Thankful for the healing that comes from the Cross. He does all things well!
Have a wonderful weekend, Wanda.
Wanda says
Indeed he does Alison. Marilyn did a great job with that post and it left me praising God. Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well.
Amy Jung says
You always have great reads here…thank you! And thanks for your link-up! In regards to your last post–I did not do any black Friday shopping…never do…I’d rather be nice and warm in my house putting up my tree! I can’t imagine being in the crowds. I buy everything online!! I’m sure it is a great way to get good deals but just can’t do it…:)
Wanda says
Amy I haven’t gotten my tree up yet. Black Friday shopping started as a little tradition with my sisters and this year was different as I went out later in the day by myself. I’ve never been any where near those crazy brawls like they some time show on the news. I guess it’s the small town I live in. There’s crowds but all pretty tamed.
Amy Jung says
I can imagine it would be a lot different in a small town. I’m a small town girl myself…maybe I should give it a try!
Wanda says
Perhaps you should Amy. I didn’t realize you live in small town. I just assumed you were a big city girl.
Amy Jung says
We used to live in St. Louis but now live about an hour outside of it in my hometown. We are probably moving back there within the next year. I miss the city but I’ll also miss the small town. Both have their benefits!
Marilyn says
