Hello lovelies. It’s hard for me to believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. This year the holiday season seems different. No outdoor decorations other than the Christmas bells on my exterior door. Just this week (Tuesday to be exact) I finished decorating the tree. Well I guess I wouldn’t call it finished exactly since it’s missing the topper that I’m too short to reach and I have been too l a z y to pull out the ladder. Yet I have enjoyed coming home and gazing at those blue and white lights at the end of the day.
It’s no surprise many bloggers are thinking and writing about Christmas this time of year. This week’s Friday Five highlights some interesting Christmas themed reads.
Winter Snow & A Whisper by Joanne at Days and Thoughts
Compels us to examine all of our doings this holiday and see how much of it has to with us rather than Him. And she shares a beautiful song I had never heard.
Embracing The Simple Joy of Giving by Barbie at My Freshly Brewed Life
She invites her readers to join her in giving this Christmas to support Gigi Walks Campaign.
Keeping Christ in Christmas by Scott at Choose to Trust
He shares about his pet peeve of seeing the conventional bumper sticklers, church signs, and car magnets with Keep Christ in Christmas. Rather than expecting the world to adopt our sayings, he encourages us to be mindful that it is “our missional love that creates attractional followers”.
To Slow in This Season, and Reflect by Jacque at Jacque Watkins
All about embracing right where we are
A Different Christmas List by Alison at Embrace the Struggle
Another blogger that challenges us to move beyond our traditional wish list.

Thank you so much, Wanda. I’ve been very slow to get anything done this year, but I am grateful to get into these blogs, as they remind me that there is more to this season than trying to get things done. I intend to be content in each day, and I must tell you that reading your blog and those you share always add to contentment.
Wanda says
Thanks LaVonne, Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.

Some good ones.
On December 24, blogger Mark Koopmans is hosting the Fifty States of Pray, and I expect there will be many incredible words of blessing and joy that day. I’m looking forward to participating and reading the others after Christmas.
Wanda says
I hadn’t heard about that one Alex. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!

Wanda – Once again, I found myself surprised. And encouraged. And affirmed. You minister in ways you know not. Thank you for including me in the posts shared. I cannot wait to sit & read the others, which I am saving for this afternoon when the snowstorm hits 🙂 Thank you!!!!

I suppose you are right Joanne. In many ways I know not. Sharing these inspiring reads I often wonder does it really matter and then I come here and receive encouraging comments. Stay safe and warm! Have a great weekend.

Hi Wanda! Oh boy…I have a ‘Keep Christ in Christmas’ magnet on my car. Sigh. I wonder if I should wander over to Scott’s blog or not? And I love Allison’s blog.
Congrats on getting your tree up! It starts to feel like Christmas, doesn’t it?
Hugs,
Ceil
Wanda says
Yes, it does feel more like Christmas now that the tree is up. It wouldn’t hurt to check out Scott’s blog but the important thing to remember is that we all have see things differently.
