Starting Over

By Wanda

The beauty of spring is that it offers a time to wake up what has been frozen and lifeless. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. To see the fresh blades of greens pushing up past areas still covered with scorched brown earth is the tell-tale signs that change is coming.  Just as the season change, change comes for us all.

Naomi was one woman accustomed to changes. She left her home country with a husband and sons only to return a childless widow. Naomi said she went away full but came back empty.  Oh, how the season changed. Her life looked nothing like it did when it started.  She was back in a familiar place but in unfamiliar circumstances. Have you found yourself back at square one again?  Starting over can feel like an insurmountable feat, but God remains faithful to us in each season of our journey. But with God’s help, we can begin again.  And he often sends along the unlikeliest companions to render aid when we need it, as he did for Naomi. Ruth 1:22 says, so Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabites, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.  Who would have expected Ruth to walk alongside Naomi so faithfully?  Through Ruth’s companionship and God’s faithfulness, Naomi was led back to a place of fullness of again.

Change Come for us but God Walks With Us Through Every Season

Our life is full of ebbs and flows, BUT God remains our constant in changing seasons. We can trust that He will not leave us empty. Where do you find yourself in this season of your life?

Our life is full of ebbs and flows, BUT God remains our constant in changing seasons.

Are there places you need to be refilled? Is there someone in your life God is calling you to come alongside and be as Ruth was to Naomi, a faithful companion?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that there is a purpose in every season of our lives. Thank you that you will not leave us in barren places. Help us to remain connected to you, the true vine, so that we may produce much fruit. Thank you for those you have called us to be in fellowship. In Jesus name, Amen.

I think we face new seasons over and over in our lives. It is how God keeps life fresh. He is always there with us and willing to equip us to face whatever that season brings–even re-filling us in the process of experiences that may seem draining.

I agree Pam some seasons come quietly and others roaring in like a freight train but through it in and all through it all we are being perfected.

Good read for me today as my mother passed away April 9th. We had one trip back to where she was buried and for the life of me I could not go to the graveyard. I know it’s only her frail shell is there but it looks so final, still dirt covers the top, flowers have wilted. It will look different when the grass is grown over it. It’s not a denial of the change her death brought into my life but a waiting time for it to sink it a little bit further into my heart. I miss her already but already God is restoring my heavy heart with blogs such as yours, my own studies and writing is giving me an outlet for my grief. Blessings.

Sending you virtual hugs Betty. We each have unique ways in which we grieve. While nothing will take the place the of your dear mother make you find comfort in the many memories you have of her.

Thank you, Wanda, for constantly bringing a timely word. I’ve been studying some of the women in Scripture recently (mostly Naomi, Hagar and Esther) and the theme in every life is change and trusting God. I pray that May is filled with awe and wonder of God’s faithfulness towards you.

Thank you for the well wishes LaVonne. We can learn so much in studying the women of the Bible. They each endured much yet are beautiful illustrations of the faithfulness of God. Hope you are doing well my friend.

    hmmmmmm, insightful
You know change come easier for some than others. for many change is a natural part of breathing. Allow me to briefly explain. Caribbean life is fraught with change, often the people have to shift and accommodate things that requires them to rise up and seek alternative ways of doing and accomplishing tasks/goals. It is so common place that most people don’t even realize that its part of their survival repertoire. This makes the people flexible in ways many will find difficult. The life there is much like turning water into wine for each day comes with some new degree of challenge that requires them to rise up and shift. I have to constantly remind myself of this when i find myself in resistance to shift and reasserting.

    nice peace.
    thanks for bringing forth

Hi Rhapsody, just discovered your comment in my spam/trash bin. Not sure how it ended up there. Thanks for sharing about life in the Caribbean. Are you from that area originally? Interesting to see just how much one’s environment can play a role in their adaptability. Have a great week.

Good post. I always thought it would be kind of boring to just have one season of life…for each one carries a different truth to be learned.

Only one season would make things rather drab. It’s amazing when you think about just how much thought God put into designing the earth. It all serves a purpose.
