Words have a way of tumbling off a page and hitting the bruised places in our hearts that we didn’t even realize were tender at a given moment. I’m not sure what drew me to Lysa Terkeurst’s Unglued Devotional among all the many other books lining my shelf this morning other than the fact I was looking for a devotional to read. After reading Day 41 devotional, I flip over and read the next day’s, entitled My Creative Best.
In other words I have been assigned a load I can handle. The good and the bad in my load are what I should carry. I’m not designed or assigned to carry someone else’s load. – Lysa Terkeurst
Those words hit me like a missile this morning. At times, I get lost in the why not, how long, and but what about me God. Too often I park my mind on what I have yet to obtained, things I should have done differently, and all the ways I am lagging behind.
But how often do I or do you take to celebrate what we are already doing well?
Love this passage from The Message Bible
Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Galatians 6: 4-5
So can I remind you as I remind myself that whatever it is-whether it feels big or small to us-that we have been given to carry, we are perfectly fit in Christ for the task.

This seems to be a recurring theme in the devotions and blogs I have been reading this week. Thanks for sharing so clearly that God calls us to HIS purpose for our lives and gives us a unique job to do. Blessings, Wanda!
Wanda says
Sounds like it’s a message God wants to bury deep within our hearts. Although it’s not a new one but one I often need to be reminded often when I’m in the thick of life. Hope you are doing well Pam.

Wanda, when I replied & said I have missed being here – I truly have. This post is wonderful. May we remember we were created for “this”. May I keep my eyes on His purposes for me & not be concerned with the “this” of others.
Wanda says
Ah Thanks Joanne. To keep our eyes on our this and not the that of others is a perfect mission for each of us sister.

Loved this, Wanda. Sometimes I am overwhelmed with what life brings my way, but then I realize that I am looking at my ability to handle it. God promises to be with me, every step of the way, on the journey He calls ME to.
GOD BLESS!
Wanda says
When we look at our ability we will always come up short for sure, Sharon.

I love this, too, Wanda. And needed it perfectly right now.
I sometimes try to do the heavy lifting that isn’t mine.
This is wonderful.
Much grace and thanks,
Jennifer
