Love is the topic of the hour this time of year. In fact we kicked off a series discussing Love & Marriage: Exploring the Role of Women in Christian Marriage over at Blogs by Christian Marriage on Sunday. You know relationships intrigue me and I want to know the secret sauce for making them work and not just work but work well. Alida was nice enough to stop by the blog to share some of the lessons she’s learned for a love that last.
Yet it’s hard to take the word love seriously when we toss it around to describe our latest fascination with a tech gadget, handbag, book, and then devotion our friends, partners and ultimately to Jesus.
Although February is the month that garners the attention of love, Ephesians 5:2 tells we ought to live in love as the Anointed One loved you—so much that He gave Himself as a fragrant sacrifice, pleasing God (The Voice). The KJV expresses it as walk in love. Either way it is not something relegated to a certain time of the year but rather an entire way of life to live in the present moment.

It is important to be reminded of this very fact! Relationships are hard, but love keeps us trying!

Love is the fabric of our lives.

Hi Wanda and Alida! Loving each other as Jesus loved us is such a challenge. And it renews itself every day. I think it’s wonderful to have a day like Valentines Day, just as a real reminder of the need to love. I send cards to my sisters and my Dad too. It’s not just for romantic love!
It should be a part of my everyday life, and I’ll struggle with that my whole life. But…I’m up for the challenge!
Happy Valentines Day 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day Ceil! It’s definitely a challenge worth getting in the ring for daily.

Love should only be used when referring to people.
Wanda says
Agreed Alex, although I’m guilty of using love when referring to my favorite things 😉

Love is life. There is no real life without it. It is the way of living. As we walk in love, we grow in love; and as we grow in love, that fragrance of our life touches all around us. May we all be little bees of love in the garden of life.
Wanda says
I like that Lavonne…little bees of love in the garden of life.

We have demeaned the definition of love in this society. I have to consider the love that holds back utter destruction in all of our lives by our Father. That love and compassion we’re to spend on everyone. Kinda brings me back. Thanks for the reminder.
Wanda says
Floyd, I agree we have lost the true meaning of love but we see evidence of God’s great love for us daily.
