For no apparent reason life can be going smooth one moment and the next you find yourself wandering along paths that leave you whirling and wondering how you got here and when you will ever find your footing again. It’s when walking through these days and days of the unclear, hazy times that one can find themselves grappling with what is that we truly believe.
What do we know for sure?
What did Jesus think it was essential for his disciples to know for sure as he was sending them out on the mission we know as the great commission?
And be sure of this:
I am with you always, even to the ends of the age
Matthew 28:20b
Funny how one little passage of a scripture can you cause you to pause.
Why was it so essential they knew and we know with certainty that Jesus is with us always?
In carrying out their assignment of making disciples of all nations, Jesus disciples, faced some unpleasant circumstances and outright persecution. If looking around at their situations alone, they may begin to wonder just where was Jesus in all of this.
Do you ever find yourself wondering where is Jesus in all of your stuff?
We can’t always trust our feelings or our circumstances as proof of Jesus presence. We humans long for that which we can see, hear, or touch. Yet we are called to faithfully know the He is there with us as much in our wanderings as He is when the path feels straight and clear.
He is there always, my friend.
Of that let us be sure.
Such timely encouragement, Wanda. It was actually pretty foggy where I live this morning, of course, this would be the day when I get in my car and one of my headlights go out. I actually sat in my car thinking, “Lord, what could possibly happen next?” I really wasn’t talking to God about the car, but life itself. But the question is irrelevant when we see our circumstances from the perspective that He is with us always.
We all have those moments when we wonder what is lurking around the next corner. Yet as you said knowing he is with us always ensures that whatever is next we are able to handle it.
That verse in one of a handful that I feel like I have tattooed on my heart. It is hopeful and comforting and empowering. And sometimes, it just convicts me, too. Yes, in all of my stuff, I often lose sight of the fact that He is ALWAYS with me, and will be there forever.
Praise God that Truth trumps my feelings!
GOD BLESS!
It’s such a perfect one to have tattooed Sharon. I’m sure I have read it before but it really stuck out to me that Jesus was telling them this at the time he was sending them out into the world to make disciples.
Thanks for the reminder. God is always there, but sometimes it is we who lost the contact. Have faith no matter what we see!
Joy you are absolutely correct. In most cases it is us who have moved and not God. But oh how grateful I am that he puts encouraging words in scripture to remind us that even in those times we can’t see and or feel it even then He is there with us.
Thanks for this encouragement…yes…I need to be reminded that He is in my stuff!
Oh don’t we all Amy. More and more I know I do with the all the stuff gets stuffy so to speak.
Such great reassurance for my heart today. Thank you for the reminder that God is always with me.
Ahh blessings to you Barbie. So glad to hear it encouraged you as it did me.
Amen! Beautiful post, Wanda,
Thanks Bernadine. Blessings to you.
Blessings…
It is because Jesus knows the inherent detours in life and how it can shake us leaving us unsure and frightened that he leaves us with this assurance that through it all, “we are not alone,” and he is “always” with us.
Its comforting reassurance in times when things are uncertain
peace.
So very well said Rhapsody. I’m grateful that his comforting reassurance.
