Provoked to Prayer

By Wanda

Prayer

Prayer a simple five letter word that can take on such complex meaning. Whole sections of shelves dedicated to the subject matter can be found at  Christian bookstores. Books teaching strategies for effective prayer are plenteous and I have read my fair share of them. Why? Because most of us know we have an open invitation to come unto the Father. It was His idea that we cast “all” our cares upon Him. But even with the divine permission to come and cast, far too many of us find ourselves feeling ill-equipped and have that uncertain feeling about are we doing it right. It’s those feelings of uncertainty that cause us to some times neglect the privilege of prayer. I’m convinced that some times we make prayer more complicated than it really needs to be.

Propel to Prayer

Yet there is some thing about trouble that teaches us how to hone our prayer skills. Hannah was one such woman that found herself under persistent pressure and provoking by her adversarial counterpart, Peninnah. Although Hannah had the love of her husband and was given extra portion there was still a sore spot in her heart due to her barrenness. And it was lack and irritation by outside forces that drove Hannah to pray with such intensity that the priest wrongly assumed she was drunk.

Are there places in your life that drive  you to prayer? Whether it’s barren wombs, relationship, or souls, they each cry out to be fill. Rather than allowing the emptiness to lead us to complaining, how much better is it take our case before one that either change the situation or change the way we see the situation.

I have found my writing, my walks help me with prayer. It opens the dialogue to be real, to sift through the day and discover what is really in my mind’s eye. We have to stop worrying about the approach and find our way to express ourselves.

    Thanks Wanda

You’re absolutely correct Ella. Our approach can be as unique as we are. I too find walking a way to pen a dialogue with heaven. Hope you enjoy a wonderful day.

Yes, Lord, yes. The Bible warns us that our enemy is persistent, therefore, we must be even more persistent in our prayers.

Health issues or events that catch me off guard drive me to prayer but what I really want more than anything is for prayer and a godly attitude to be my FIRST reaction to everything that happens in life.

Hi Wanda! Great post! There are times when we’re propelled to intercede(the reasons you mentioned above), but if we as Believers were to live a lifestyle of prayer and giving thanks to God, most of the trouble we face would be few and far between. As always Wanda, thanks for your thought provoking post! Have a blessed week my friend!

Yes indeed a lifestyle of prayer and intercession is what we need more than just those moments that drive us to our knees. Hope your week is full of peace and productivity my friend.

I find myself praying throughout the day. Just talking to God and calling out to Him. Jesus gave us the best model on how to pray and I try to adhere to that as much as I can.

Isn’t it great that we don’t have to require a priest to go to God on our behalf. Instead He gives us the opportunity to be in constant fellowship with Him. Wishing you another successful year of A-Z Arlee.
