On Project Runway, Heidi Klum says in fashion one day you’re in, the next day you’re out.
A popular candy bar jingle said, sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don’t—feelings changes
Hairstyles changes: I even changed mine recently.
The desires I had as a school girl just are not the same as those I have now as young women facing a soon-to-come-birthday that has me heading on the downside of thirty {oh boy where did the time go}
Time has a way of bring changes to even the most toned bodies.
Change is Inevitable
You know it and I know it too. Things have a way of changing up on you even when you least expect it. There really is no place in our lives that isn’t impacted by change eventually. And in the midst of all the changes it is great to know there are some eternal things.
But knowing that eternal things exist is not enough
Changes have a way of loosening your grip. Just like the wobbly leg on my dining room chair needs to be tighten up every now and then, our grip needs readjusting from time to time.
So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Hebrews 12:12 (NLT)
As I read Hebrews chapter 12, I see believers who were undergoing some rough times, some uncomfortable predicaments, and some unwanted discipline. Yet, they were urged to change their focus to:
- the cloud of witnesses {do you see evidence of God’s faithfulness of the lives of others? If so, let that witness to you during your difficult times}
- Christ and what he endure {what you are going through may be hard but how does it compare to what Christ endure for us}
- the end result{our experiences produces growth; it doesn’t feel good to us but it is good for us}
Because our focus matters
And when realigning our focus on these things, we find the strength and encouragement to continue walking. Yes, it’s then that we can find renewed passion so that we are not living on autopilot.
Selah: Are there some places of your life that you need to get a new grip on? Have you become weary in your assignment? What things have had your focus this week?
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Not living on autopilot – good analogy. We rarely like change, but it helps to know there is One who never changes. That’s our life vest in a sea of change.
Wanda says
What a great thought Alex…our life vest in a sea of change. That gives me such a great visual.

So true; change is inevitable! I think we are all aware of things in our life that need to be refined, whether it is a change in attitude, behavior, or work condition. The healthiest and most content people are those who are aware of where they fall short and are able to “get a grip” and come to God in truth and humility and believe in His ability to change us.! 🙂
Great post Wanda; blessings on your weekend too!

Wanda, I’ve been trying to get a grip on the UNSEEN, the INVISIBLE. My focus has been on the fact that our faith and hope and love are tied what is UNSEEN and INVISIBLE, and two verses have really been on my mind: “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” – Hebrews 11:3; By Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. – Colossians 1:16. More and more, I am focusing on the fact that the things that I see changing are not the things that are really relevant to my eternal life, or my earthly existence, for that matter. What really matters is the unseen, unchanging power, love and Spirit of God.
