Have you ever canvassed the mall or park noticing all the seemingly happy people. Every where you look you see the reminder of what’s eluded you for quite some time. With every turn there is yet another birth, wedding, promotion, engagement announcement or a testimony of victory. And through eyes with just a hint of sadness, you extend your congratulations all the while wondering who stole your cheese. When you least expect it, your hear the inner voice that dares not speak into the open singing the “what about me song”.
But who has blocked your portion
If it’s ours and we want it, what hinders its flow?
I found my bloggy friend LaVonne at Sword of Goliath asking intriguing questions in her post, Your Portion. She asks what is your portion and from whom do you seek it?
Within each of us lies a belief that we should possess something ( I don’t just mean the accumulation of more stuff)
But who is that we are honestly looking to bring about our assigned portion?
The who we believe to have the power to bring our portion into being determines the how we go about living in the absence of it.
Are you stressing out because it’s still missing despite all your efforts?
Are you striving to make it happen through your on strategies?
Or are you taking the individual steps being lead by divine guidance trusting that each step even the zigzag ones are leading you to the place of your portion?
I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” Lamentations 3:24 NIV

Wow Wanda; great post! There has been little in my life that has made as much an impact as learning to be content in all things. Whether I have little or much, feel good or bad, whether it’s a work day or a play day, the secret to contentment and being fulfilled is believing that God and what He has provided for me in this very moment is all I need. I have learned over and over that contentment and joy can only be found when I allow the power of God to control my life instead of trying to change my circumstances or always wanting more. 🙂

As I read your reply Denise, I was reminded of 1 Timothy 6:6 that says godliness with contentment is great gain. It was like I had a light bulb moment. I don’t think we realize what all is gained when we have really laid hold of contentment. I can’t say it’s something I fully matured in at this point.

Hi Wanda! Very thought provoking post my friend! We have become a society of people who feel entitled. If we learn to wait on God and rest assure that He’ll give us our portion…life would be so much easier for us. 🙂 Thanks for linking up this week…have a lovely weekend! 🙂
Wanda says
Practicing the art of the wait would save us a lot of stress and time for sure. Have a wonderful weekend.

Yes, it is so easy to slip into thinking we deserve things. Good reminders here. Thanks.
Wanda says
Hi Gail! God gives us far more than we ever deserve doesn’t he? But it’s all because of His goodness.
