Whew, I have officially made it to the end of another work week. Which means it’s time for me to share my favorite finds for this week’s Friday Five.
Here are my recommended reads for your weekend from my 5 favorite finds:
Organized for Intentional Living: Online Edition {Part One: Social Media} at Sparrow + Grace by Alena
She does a great job showing how she has created a defined purpose and plan for using each social media platform to avoid the time-suck that can occur when we wander aimlessly in the world of social media.
Divine Design Part 1 at Wasteland to Graceland
In her post she quotes Os Guinness as saying, “Do What You Are”. It reminds me how I often struggle with finding the balance of doing what I feel good at and doing what is necessary to meet my physical needs.
Listen to Love at Write by Grace by Sarah
Shares how failure to listen is often rooted in insecurity and selfishness.
Thankful Thursday at Gentle Recovery by Nikki
Reminds me that it is in the difficult, yucky moments of life that brings the most fertile soil to bring about the biggest growth in our lives.
Barriers to Being a Disciple: SELF at Replicate Ministries by Tim
In a world where self-promotion is the rage, Tim show us what Christ really asks of ourselves.
I hope you have the chance to stop by one of this weeks Friday Five picks.
The Friday Five Fellowship Link-Up
Now it’s your turn to join the fun. The Friday Five Fellowship is a blog hop designed to share inspirational posts that others may find encouragement. You can link up your own posts or recommended reads from other bloggers.

Giving thanks for this day, and for the encouragement of Wanda and all these other wonderful bloggers. Keep reaching out, bloggers; endure and be encouraged. I am reminded of a few words in Romans 15, “Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. “I took on the troubles of the troubled,” is the way Scripture puts it. Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we’ll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus! So reach out and welcome one another to God’s glory. Jesus did it; now you do it! Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes.”
Wanda says
Thank you LaVonne for those words of encouragement and admonishment. As I read your words, Hebrews 11:24: Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. I could just sit and soak up your wisdom for our hours my friend. Discovering you in blog-land has been a rich gift to me.

Hi Ceil, the Friday five fellowship hop is relatively new. I was inspired to do it when I stumbled across one of my bloggy neighbors had decided to join me in posting her favorite reads.
And I’m sure we will become great blog neighbors. Hope your weekend is a great one.

Wanda, I had a crazy week and haven’t been able to visit as many links as I would like, but when I read this devotional , “We Are Not Good, But Jesus Makes Us Beautiful “, in my inbox today, I knew it needed to be shared in your link-up…
The writer says, “We like to see great testimonies of God’s grace, but we don’t want to be the testimony.”….I promise if anyone takes the time to read this post, they will be blessed and convicted…and possibly changed!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Wanda says
That is such a powerful quote Karen. I definitely must check this one out. Thank you so much for sharing it. Hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend.
Alison Hector says
Hey Wanda! Happy Friday, and a great weekend to you too! I really resonated with your first pick. Left to my own devices, I will wander all over social media and get nothing productive done. I like the idea of a timer and a twice daily check-in for the major outlets (FB and Twitter). Now to implement it, I’m gonna need some prayer… and lots of self-discipline!
Wanda says
I know exactly what you mean Alison. I don’t spend too much time on FB but I can get lost for hours downing the blog hop trail. There are just so many gifted bloggers sharing their stories that intrigue me. Thanks for linking up!
Hazel Moon says
Thanks Wanda, this is an awesome list! Keep up the good work!
