While many women dream of being a beautiful bride, how many are really aiming to be a beautiful wife? Sandy Ralya’s The Beautiful Wife focuses not on outward adornment but the beauty that can be found when women focus on God, understand their role as wife, and join a community of women. She uses Titus 2:1,3-5 as the model of her biblical plan to fortify marriages. Two Ways to Use the book
1. The Beautiful Wife can be used as a small group curriculum. For anyone hosting a small group there is a mentor’s guide available which provides a great guideline for hosting meetings and creative touches to enhance your group time. 2. Even if you don’t have small group this book is great to use as an individual. Each chapter of the book closes with reflection questions and first steps suggestions to help you incorporate what you have learned. Another resource available is the prayer journal, which offers prayers and journal activities relating to each chapter.
Who Should Read It
Obviously the intended audience is for married women particularly women of faith. However, I think the book is a helpful resource to the single woman who is hoping to be married some day. And some topics discussed can be used in any type of relationship such as her acronym TRACE (even though its including in the inviting romance chapter).

Wow! Only a few nights ago, I was talking to a friend about how the teachings on marriage and relationships (within the church community) are either non-existent or filled with error. I am constantly reminding the young people that 1 Corinthians 7 must be put in context, in that it is in fact “good” to be single or married IF we don’t make other people the source of our joy and fullness in life. When we establish a good relationship with God, we can live with the confidence that He will always be there for us, and with that confidence we can actually influence our homes, spouses, children and our environment for the good. I’ll have to put this book on my reading list.
My sisters and I often lament about the absence of sound teaching on marriage/relationships in today’s church setting as well. We need more Titus 2 women for sure.
