Have you ever hear something whisper within you? As I walked this morning I heard the whisper of something. And as JBR points out in her recent post, God’s Other Name, that something is better defined as someone, who is God. I must have used the phrase something told me to do this or not do that. When I listen to that inner something, I find that it always speaks truth to me. It attempts to guide me through or around things that I don’t even know awaits up ahead.
So what was that inner voice speaking to me today? As I took Bella (my doggy child) out for a morning walk, I heard the unexpected whisper saying you were created for more. Although I wasn’t sure just what the phrase meant I knew I needed to pay attention. The phrase sounded vaguely familiar perhaps it’s the title of book or maybe I seen a post some where along the blogosphere of the same title. I can not place where I have heard before but I know I heard repeated to me several times this morning.
You were created for more so why do you insist on settling for less? That was the question posed to me this morning. But what is the more that I am created for I thought. For life seems pretty good. When is it that good is not enough? Good is not enough when it’s less than God’s best.
The more we are created for has nothing to do with more trinkets, treasures, or stuff. For stuff has a strange way of weighing us down. I was created for more peace, more life, more victory, more joy, more love. These scriptures came to mind as I thought about being created for more.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal , and to kill , and to destroy : I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (KJV)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Rom 8:37 (ESV)
Are there places in your life that you have settled for less? What does the phrase created for me say to you?

God always pushes us to be our best, to use the talents we gave him for His greater glory. I’m grateful he always pushes us to keep our mind on that point. He’s an awesome GOD!
Wanda says
Yes He does. Sometimes with gentle nudging and other times with bit more strength He pushes us to stretch and grow more.
Tracy says
Hi Wanda – ouch and ouch again. Yes, there are places in my life I have settled for less. Time to reevaluate. Great post
God bless
Tracy
Wanda says
Oh Tracy I feel the pain as well. To come from a place of settling to more requires stretching, which can be down right uncomfortable. But it’s so wonderful to have a God that will shake us out of complacency and remind us that there’s still more for us regardless of our age, position, or condition.
LaVonne says
Oh, Wanda, we must be walking the same route. The other morning I was walking and was a little down because a friend was in trouble and I did not think I had what she needed. That still voice whispered to me that I can give her myself, as I had been doing. That still voice gently reminded me that I am a treasure, useful, valuable and overflowing. Sometimes when we are looking for treasure to give God is trying to tells us that we are treasures with MORE than for every situation. May we all recognize and embrace the MORE that we are.
Wanda says
LaVonne, it just amazes how our paths intersect at times. Lately I have been surrounded with bad news and in hearing the plight of others I’m asking myself what can I give them. And here you have answered that quiet quest for what shall I give. Lord help me to recognize and embrace the more that I am.
Karen says
MORE, LORD!!!
Wanda says
Yes more of Him!
