Who has the privilege of hearing your voice first thing in the mornings?
Living alone and working from home several times a week there are some days when it’s well into the afternoon, and I have yet to exercise my vocal chords. The introvert in me relishes in these quiet days and easily hums along doing my daily tasks. As I’m wrapping up a study with the Love God Greatly Group one of the verses for the week stood out.
Psalm 5:3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
Mornings are sort of like sacred spaces.
Not everyone has the privilege of seeing us our in undone, unprepared, undressed state. When we present ourselves to one another in the morning we show the dressed and ready to tackled the day form (as we should).
Because God knows us intimately. No dress up or pretense is required.
We can call unto him in the early hours of the morning or the wee hours of the night. He’s always available.
How often do you invite Him into your morning routine? Are mornings frantic or are you one that has everything sorted and planned for the day?
My day goes so much smoother when I take the time to prepare ahead and spend time in prayer before allowing myself to get overwhelmed or off course with all the daily to-do lists.
Cynthia says
Amen, Wanda! Those wee hours and morning hours are so sacred when spent with the Lord. No pretense or anything, necessary to take your place at His feet…just you, sitting quietly in adoration and thankfulness of His love, salvation and grace. Many blessings to you!
Wanda says
Indeed they are Cynthia. Hope you and yours are doing well.
Pam says
I agree wholeheartedly, Wanda. I really do NEED those moments alone with Jesus each morning. I find I have much more peace of mind as well as the ability to get done what needs done. Well said.
Wanda says
Yep me too Pam but it’s an invitation that sometimes I leave unopen some days thinking I’m too rushed. But oh what a difference it makes in how I approach my day.
denise says
totally agree.
Wanda says
Have a great week Denise
Sharon says
With the blessing of not having to go to work, and well past my *mom* years, I am fortunate to have mornings that unfold rather quietly. It’s important, though, even when not busy to remember to take the time to be with the Lord. Mornings are a good time to adjust my thinking, and my heart, for the rest of the day.
GOD BLESS!
Wanda says
Oh in some ways I envy you Sharon 🙂 but I know every season of life has it challenges. Regardless of we each have the challenge of how to be good stewards of our time.
LaVonne says
What a timely message, Wanda. I also spend much of my time “alone”, but I’ve found that there will be chaos, even in periods of solitude, if I do not carve out time in the morning before God. Sometimes, I don’t have much to say, I just need to hear Him. We often forget, as we strive to accomplish even the smallest tasks, that God knows every detail and He desires to help us. May we continue to call on Him in the morning.
Wanda says
Always appreciate your wisdom LaVonne. So true that the absence of others does not mean freedom of chaos. At times I think we can find ourselves grappling for the right words and all we need is God here I am. Then present ourselves with attentive ears. Wish you a peaceful and productive week.

Blessings…..
God hears me first, then my daughter both have seen me unprepared and undressed. As for whom else well many people as my work involves talking. I talk from the time I get in till the time I leave – 8 hours straight.
I call on God first thing in the morning, throughout the day and last thing at night. The almight is well familiar with my voice…lol, i imagine when he hears me he say…”Ok, here’s my child Rhapsody.
Wanda says
Isn’t it awesome when you think about out of all of God’s children calling out to Him, He still knows each of our distinct voice and is attentive to our cry?
Richa Sharma says

Wanda says

Yash pandy says

Wanda says
I agree, Yash. The way one starts the morning sets the tone for the whole day.
Geannie says
I love your take on this. I tend to be more introverted but don’t always get to “indulge” myself in the quiet I lean toward. Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not left to my own devices! Ha! Thanks for the visit & comments! I look forward to reading more!
Wanda says
Left to our own devices us introverts can to stay to ourselves too much at times for sure Geannie 🙂
