What are the things you hold dear?
We accumulate a lot stuff…clothes, electronic gadgets, books, cars, and all sorts of doodads. But most of that same stuff have a very limited life span. Manufacturers only warrant their items for 1 to 5 years. Yet we think we need more and more and more of it.
But how much of our time is really spent embracing eternal things. I Corinthian 13:13 points out three things that are built to last—faith, hope, love.
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Great reminder from one who has TOO much stuff!
Happy A to Z-ing!
A good question there Wanda , one I haven’t got an answer for.
Great E post.
Yvonne.
One year, about 4 years back, God took nearly every possession we had away from us for a year, we were left with our car and an overnight bag. He made us stronger in our Faith, our Hope and our Love! I wouldn’t have traded that year for a year being a millionaire. We are fully restored and more fully grown. Now when we want some “thing” that isn’t really necessary, we remind ourselves of the time we had nothing and were completely content.
Thank you Donna for sharing your personal testimony.
Lord, You are merciful. When I think back over my life, I just thank You for emptying me so I could embrace the eternal more. It seems that everything in my life happened early. I was known as an adult, even as a child. I was always busy, working, producing. That’s not bad, but even good things can get awfully burdensome when they take our focus off the main things, the eternal things. I got to the point of emptying all close to the end of grad school. I had a lot going on, all of it good, but I was not satisfied with my eternal focus. I literally moved and shifted everything in every way, and I have not regreted one moment since then. It’s been an epic spiritual fight, but I’m determined to keep my focus in the right direction and never get complacent again.
It’s kind of amazing how our lives give me so full but yet we can feel so empty and unsatisfied. Have you ever considered writing a book LaVonne?
Thanks, Wanda. God is truly amazing. Yes, I’ve been asked to write a book more than once. I love writing. I need to get out of my box and just do it. I’ve been reading with interest your “creativity” postings. I relate to that place where I know I should be doing more with my talents.
Time to let go of stuff and focus on God!
Lately I find myself sorting through lots of stuff. Some things are hard to let go.
Oh let us keep our eyes on the eternal and not the temporal! We can’t take it with us anyway!
