From the Hands of Delilah to the Arms of Samson

By Wanda

HandsofDelilah

A HEALING, RESTORING, AND EMPOWERING GUIDE FOR EVERYDAY MEN WHO ARE IN SEARCH OF BUILDING AND SUSTAINING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships intrigue me perhaps it’s because I have seen so many fail. So when an opportunity to read about relationships from an African-American male perspective presented itself, I was curious to jump inside the pages of Mo Stegall’s book, From The Hands of Delilah to the Arms of Samson: Becoming the Jewel He Desperately Needs…Being the Man She Essentially Desires.

Whether male or female, none of us go through life unscathed  from relationships. Although the book is specifically tailored to men, any reader will be enlightened and encouraged to examine how those past hurts or disappointments can be impacting the way you relate to others presently.

From the Hands of Delilah to the Arms of Samson is akin to having a Titus 2:2 session with your older brother, who wants to help you learn from his mistakes. Within the pages of this seven part book, Mr. Stegall uses his personal experiences, movie/tv/sport themed analogies, and Biblical principles to guide men into establishing and maintaining thriving relationships.

I like that each part of the book closes with a power point to ponder (the key take away from that section), question to consider, and a jewel tip along with a section for writing personal notes.

Here’s a few of the quotes I underline in the book:

When we enter into relationships with hidden hurt, we have not only surrendered the opportunity for healing to commence but we have also transformed our partner involuntarily into the seeker racing throughout the relationship to find our authentic heart.

How you love God and yourself will ultimately determine your ability to love others.

Having more of something is not equal to having the best of something.

At times I found the book a little too heavily sprinkled with movie or TV show scenarios but overall, I enjoyed getting a closer view of how a man thinks and I think it’s a great book for young men.

Book Description

From the Hands of Delilah to the Arms of Samson authorizes men to bring their hurt from past relationships, life challenges, and silent frustrations to the forefront without fear of manipulation, allowing his heart to be healed, his manhood restored and his soul empowered. It sanctions men to delve into the intricate components of their minds, hearts and inner most emotions challenging them to sift through those rigid walls of hurt, neglect and excuses while positioning him to be the strong loving pillar of his family.

It is also an insightful resource for women educating, encouraging and empowering women on how to become the precious jewel that men desperately need. As the author shares innovative analogies, remarkable stories, and perceptive information readers learn how to:
• Investigate the pitfalls of past relationships
• Identify issues and challenges that may prohibit growth and development
• Become marriage material
• Successfully build healthy relationships
• Apply innovative tools to optimizing life-style choices
• Forgive and be forgiven
• Relinquish generational relationship curses
• Be a treasure hunter & jewel expert
And more….

I like the quotes you included here, Wanda, especially the statement that more does not mean best. Most of us have at some point in our lives gone after more only to end up with something less and/or worse. Our love for God (to receive it and give it) is certainly the key to all our relationships.
