How has your journey been as of late? Feeling worn, torn, battered, bruised, or are your cruising along feeling as if you finally hit your stride? That’s the thing about life, each of our journeys are different. While the sister in the cubicle next to us appears to be in full bloom with everything going her way, we could be experiencing a season of winter where we see very little productivity or growth in our lives.
But WHEREVER we are GOD is there too!
God does not evacuate places of drought. Now we would take the first ticket to fast track around or out of barren places if only it were possible.
But there is something about our inability to produce that in which we need or desire that points our eyes outward and often launches us forward from places of comfort and complacency. It was this need for food that drove Joseph’s brother back to Egypt to purchase more food to winter the famine in their area. Yet their encounter yielded so much more than they could have ever expected or imagined. See Gen 45:16-28 for the back story. It makes me think of Ephesians 3:20, Now unto him who is able to do immeasurably more than ALL we ask or imagine according to the power that works within us (NASB)
So the sons of Jacob did as they were told. Joseph gave them wagons, as Pharaoh had commanded and he supplied them with provisions for the journey. Genesis 45:21 (NLT)
In the midst of their famine, Joseph brother’s came with one expectation food.
What they received:
- Restoration of relationships
- Land
- Provision beyond just their short-term needs
How often are we consumed with one thing that is troubling us? Forgetting that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. What are you expecting to show up on your journey today more problems or God provisions? Even in the midst of less than ideal circumstances if we train our eyes to look, we can still see evidence of his faithful provision on our journey.
Dear God, thank you for this beautiful reminder in your word that you are God that makes provision for our journey in life. Our days are no surprise to you. Thank you that according to Psalm 37:23 you direct our steps and delight in every detail of our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
Happy travelling friends,

Good Morning Wanda,
It’s been a while, since I’ve checked-in. What a wonderful and “just what I needed” post! There are certain areas of my journey that are very still. This last week, I decided to be still, too, for my spinning wheels are not the answer. Only the Lord knows what I need, in order to move forward. And, I am embracing the waiting period. Sometimes, those that look like they are on a roll and going places, are people who embrace where they are, living their present life to the fullest. I will pray, rejoice and love, right where I am, because the Lord has placed a lamp at my feet, on a unique path, just for me, and I must be obedient and follow. Joy to you!
Wanda says
Hi Cynthia, isn’t it great when you get just what you need. I like what you said about those embracing where where they are. How much more enjoyable life is when learn to make the most of our current moment trusting there is value right we in our now even if we are waiting. Wishing you peace and love as you rest in Him.

Hi Wanda,
What a great reminder that God is with us in our circumstances and that He will provide what is needed for that season of my life. I especially like this sentence, “Even in the midst of less than ideal circumstances if we train our eyes to look, we can still evidence of his faithful provision on our journey.”
Thank you for encouraging your readers in the Lord!
Susan

Hi Wanda! I am much like Cynthia, is a season of quiet. I do want to find the places of ‘food’ and spiritual nourishment, but that is hidden from me now. It’s okay though, I know God will lead me out when I’m ready.
Love the thought that God is with us always, no matter the times or seasons. I truly believe that too. Where we walk, He walks with us. So we are always safe…
Our days are no surprise to Him, He has it all planned out. I keep getting surprised though!
Nice to be here 🙂

It has been a quiet season for me as well Ceil and one I haven’t embraced with peace everyday. I have to keep reminding myself that although the little crooks and turns and popups might alarm me but He knew all about them.

I love what you said about how we go into a situation looking for something, and God has so much more in it for us. I think sometimes, my vision is so focused on the one thing I think I need the most, and that is the only thing I expect, when God is wanting to do MORE. I really found encouragement here today. Thank you, sweet friend. 🙂
Wanda says
Cheryl, you summed up so well one of the nuggets of truth God was teach me true that passage. Our minds are limited and in truth we don’t really know how best to meet our needs.
Pam says
Your post and Cynthia’s comments are just what I needed to read today as I face my 4th chemotherapy treatment today. God will provide. He has for the past three; He will for these last three. But it is hard to embrace where I am since, on so many levels, it is not where I want to be. Trusting that He will provide. Thank you for the encouragement, Wanda!
Wanda says
There are some spots in life that are really less than ideal and no one would pick them. But indeed He is there with you. Sending you hugs and prayer Pam.
Tona says
Thanks Wanda, for helping us to remember to continue to focus on the needs that our God has already supplied. We need to continue to look careful at not only the things that he has provided during our journey but also the grace that He has given us to help us through the journey as well.
Wanda says
I love that Tona! It’s so true He provides us with all that we need to make it through our journey. Pleasure to meet you.
LaVonne says
Well, Wanda, who else but you could make me cry (in a good way) on a Wednesday? I’ve never met you, but I can truly say that I do love you. Never stop “preaching.”
Wanda says
Oh LaVonne, you words warm my heart dear friend. It’s been a struggle it seem getting the words out as of late. Thank you for always being one who waters my soul. Love and hugs to you.

Wanda says
Hi Joanne, isn’t it a blessing that God meets in all places whether it’s a place of abundance or one in which we are abase?

Glad I was meant to read this good Word today. Sometimes it’s good to hear a reminder from a brother or sister when we’re up against the ropes. You’re right of course; nothing sneaks up on our Father… and the toughest times always yield the greatest crop of wisdom. Thanks, Wanda. Bless you!
Wanda says
Love your words Floyd…”the toughest times always yield the greatest crop of wisdom”. We don’t always see what is being uprooted and firmly planted within us when we are in the midst of hard times but indeed their is yield.
