With November coming to a fast close and the bells of Christmas jingling, many are making their lists and checking them twice. Lists filled with desire for something new and in order to receive the new some actually need to clear out some old stuff. Good usable stuff gets moved out to make room better more advanced stuff. However, some people like my blogging buddy, Ella at Ella’s Edge have a gift for repurposing the old like making earrings out of credit/gift cards.
Whether it’s toys, food, clothing, or trash lots of stuff get thrown out in America. But there are some things we can’t afford to trash. For the past couple of days, I have awaken with the words cast not away your confidence burning in my consciousness. Those words are a portion of Hebrews 10:35.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. (KJV)
What causes us to lose confidence—the passing of time. Time has a way of wearying us. Don’t throw out your confidence in God’s Word to you just because the end of the year is approaching. Either we can allow our faith to atrophy or we can strengthen it.

This message, a blog post I saw today with song lyrics saying “everybody says don’t, but do it anyway,” and a friend’s pointing out that my answer right now seems to be to wait, are helping me. I keep praying although there are no outward signs of any progress. LOL, it’s kind of like placing an order with a company, getting what you ordered, and then waiting for a repair with no word from the fix-it department.
I know I must have faith, but a progress report would be nice! 🙂

I like that idea of progress reports. It sure would help a sometimes worry-wart like myself but I guess I really wouldn’t be using my faith then.

Well, that feeling of calm, even through anxiety, that I call a “millpond feeling,” is persisting. I guess that means all will be well. I just hope it’s the way I asked.

Amen!! Amen!! I love that verse Wanda….For me to not cast away my confidence…I am to hold on to it; because it had great recompence of reward. It had taken me years to get the confidence that I have about myself. What I can do as He is holding on to my hand, and I am holding His hand. I can do all things with though Him who gives me His strength to endure. So I am going to hold on to what He has given me. I am really proud of myself where I am today, and looking forward to where He is having me go further. Amen!! Thanks Wanda..you have a great day. Thanks for sharing that scriptrue. It’s good to be reminded… 🙂

Preach! Preach! Preach! Wanda, you have quoted one of my fave verses (yes, I have so many favorites! lol!). This verse, among a few others, is one that reminds me that God does not let go of us and He expects us to keep moving forward, even if we have to crawl. Even when Samson was at his weakest, and everything around Him was falling, he had his confidence. The confidence to keep moving is in us through Him, flowing directly from His throne. No matter what is going on, don’t let go of the confidence … faith, hope and love. Don’t throw it away. As the song says, “I’ve almost let go….” many times, but my confidence in Him keeps me rising up and moving on.

Yes, it’s in there even when the enemy would have us believe that all the trouble, disappointment, stuff has it buried too deep! As I was reading your words the passage of scripture that says I would have fainted had I not believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living comes to mind.

I like this verse….I need to remember it….the lists that I need to check twice is growing too fast
Wanda says
I understand how those lists can be bulging this time of year.

Hi Wanda,
One thing that causes me to loose confidence is when I get my eyes off of God and onto myself. It’s funny…I know I’ve read Hebrews a number of times, but don’t recall reading that verse. I’m going to go look that up.
Thanks for pointing me back to the Word of God which I need to treasure.
Blessings in Christ..Susan

That’s part of the beauty of the Word of God. At certain times of our lives certain passages of scripture that we may have read before come alive to us in fresh new ways.
