After being without electricity since a storm rolled through Arkansas Thursday night about 11:30 pm, how sweet it is to have lights again. As I was plunged into darkness, I was reminded just how vitally important it is that we stay plugged into our spiritual power source. In today’s techno-savvy world, there is much to be plugged into with a constant stream of information, news, celebrity gossip, beautiful instagram photos, and lovely pinterest pins. Not to mention all of the great blogs to read. Yet there is One greater we must be mindful to remain connected to in all our doing and being. Here’s a snippet of what I shared about staying plugged in back in 2010.
The most important power source connection lies untapped often. The Internet allows us to be connected to people, places, and ministries all over the world. Even being connected to ministry leaders is not enough because they are human. And human strength always wane at some point. God has given us the Holy Spirit – the ultimate power source. Yet, we still try to fulfill our daily assignments and use our giftings through our own abilities.
Another lesson learned was not to put off pulling together my Friday Five post till Friday morning because you never know what a day may bring. Hope to be back to regular schedule sharing a few favorite finds next week. Have a great weekend!

Sorry to hear about your power loss…but it brought with it a great reminder to stay plugged into the Lord. You’re so right…even people aren’t enough. We need the Lord. Blessings!

Amazing how when we get shut off from worldly connections, we can often be better in tuned to the heavenly voice.
Elizabeth West says
Oh no, Wanda! I hope the storm didn’t do too much damage. Glad you’re back up and running. 🙂
Wanda says
Thankful, not too much damage in my neighborhood. It’s great to be back.

Sorry about the power outage. The Lord always has something to share with us, even in times of darkness, doesn’t He? Have a beautiful weekend.

Little nuggets of truth we can unearth even in the darkest places of our lives. Nothing is wasted with God.

I so appreciate how you look to find wisdom in all aspects of your life. I tend to fly off the handle first. Taking things in stride and wisdom makes for a more peaceful life… guess I should learn from your lessons too!
Wanda says
Ha, we all have our little quirks Floyd. You have a way of uncovering deep truths as well. I like the quiet but those dark dark nights were kind of creepy.
Jennifer Richardson says
oh I feel you, friend;
it’s amazing what a difference one unforeseen storm
can make
and how the light we take for granted
can suddenly seem a vat of gold.
I remember how hungry for it (and for moving air) I felt
last time we lost power during the hot summertime.
Grateful it’s restored to you now.
(isn’t restoration a thing of great beauty!)

Indeed it is Jennifer. Grateful that we were experiencing cool weather during this time without power.
Alison Hector says
Glad you got your power back, both in the natural and in the spiritual realms, Wanda! You have a great week, friend!
Wanda says
As am I Alison. Wishing you a productive week.

First–I’m so glad that you have power back in your home. Something that we use everyday– like electricity, we take for granted and I needed to read your experience to always be thankful no matter what.
Second–You are so right about our desire to connect with people and causes around us. We seek this connection, meanwhile we sometimes forget that our biggest connector is God. Once we plug into Him we will start to feel fulliled.
Last– once again you are reminding me why I need to stop procrastinating on some things that I just keep putting off. I’m giving myself a deadline.
Wanda says
Hi Kalley, we do take so much for granted. I can’t tell you how many times I hit the light switch during the power outage just out of habit. Wishing you all the best and you make steps toward what you have been putting off.
LaVonne says
Wanda, I love this reminder of how important it is to stay connected to The Greatest source. For some reason, your words reminded me of Revelation 3:17, where we are called to remember our true state and our need of Him. Sometimes we forget how badly we really need The Light … until after we’re plunged into darkness. Have a sparkling bright week!
Wanda says
An interesting verse you called to mind LaVonne. Of course I had to go look it. We often don’t recognize the value of what’s readily available to us until it’s in short supply.
Sharon says
Oh Wanda – what an ordeal! Isn’t it funny how we get so used to something – and we don’t even think of it until it’s gone. We’ve had power outages here, and they are most unsettling.
I loved what you had to say about the Real Power Source – the Holy Spirit. How often I forget that I am not called to live the Christian life on my own. On my own, I’m a very faulty, fading flashlight. But, with the Spirit’s power, I can shine as bright as the SON!
GOD BLESS!
Wanda says
Yes, it is odd Sharon. I hit that little light switch so many times even though I knew the power was off. So glad that he didn’t leave us her to rely to our strength. Keeping shine my dear.
joy says
Yes! It is very important. Staying connected with God. Thanks for the reminder.
Wanda says
Of vital importance Joy. Have a delightful week.

Hi Wanda! I’m glad to be here and get filled in on your night without power. Yikes! I like candle light, but you do get concerned about the refrigerator and freezer. Seems like our house always is the one without power in a storm.
But you learned so much from your experience! Seems like those lessons learned the ‘hard way’ are the ones we hold the closest. The Lord really wanted you! What a blessing. And I’m glad that things are back to normal now for you.
It is a happy Monday!
Ceil
Wanda says
Ceil, those little bought lessons sure do stick with us a little longer it seems. I like candle light too when it’s a choice 🙂 Have a great week.
Ella says
I am happy you are back! I worry about this storm today and it is wild here again. Oh, Wanda how dreadful-it does remind us to see things more clearly when we have time out and are unplugged! Welcome back dear friend-
Wanda says
Ella, I pray that you and yours are kept safe.
TC Avey says
Yes, the stormy season is here! So thankful we can trust in God!
Blessings.
Wanda says
Indeed he is faithful throughout all times.
